The city of Cardiff has been granted a Gold Sustainable Food Places Award, recognising the success of its joined-up approach to building a sustainable and healthy food system.

Cardiff is only the fourth place in the UK to achieve Gold status, following Brighton & Hove, Bristol and Cambridge.

The EU Fab 6 - Savour the PDO and PGI Wines and Deli Meats - is an ambitious transnational campaign co-funded by the European Union, which selected it as one of the best projects to promote EU agricultural products worldwide.

An ethos of sourcing locally, championing seasonality, and eradicating food waste has seen The Pasture Restaurant group secure a 3* ‘Food Made Good’ Rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) – making them the first independently owned restaurant in Wales to achieve the respected accreditation.

A new event will shine a light on the evolving local food scene in the Vale of Glamorgan - with a particular focus on showcasing sustainable food and drink. The inaugural Vale Food Trail will take place from 9th – 18th June and will include a calendar of events designed to bring people closer to food producers and businesses in the Vale.

An innovative scheme which helped wine lovers to discover independent bars and restaurants in the Welsh capital is returning this month, following a successful pilot last summer.

Food Cardiff, a city-wide partnership of more than 200 individuals and organisations - is asking people from all walks of life to ‘make a pledge’ and take action, to help Cardiff achieve Gold Sustainable Food Places status by the year 2024.
